May 9, 2008 GARDENS

Wortley Hall's gardens lie mainly to the south and west of the Hall. Beneath the Hall's south front, the west-east slope was graded in the mid nineteenth century to form a set of grass terraces with steps, and a level lawn decorated with clipped golden yews and focuses on a circular pool and statue.

A walk along the west side of the flower garden goes to a stone seat alcove.

From here it leads to the Sunken Gardens, now replanted with azaleas and rhododendrons.
